One of the core values of Sigma Kappa is service. As a chapter, we love to give back to our community. From playing bingo with residents at a local nursing home to beautifying the community around Robert Morris University to participating in various fundraising events on campus, we pride ourselves in aiding our community and volunteering with different organizations. Just is the past Spring 2018 semester year alone, we completed around 700 hours of service work as a chapter.
In addition to our service projects within the community, we constantly strive to help our philanthropies, including Alzheimer's Association, Marine Sea Coast Mission, Sigma Kappa Foundation, and Inherit the Earth. Every fall we host our Ultraviolet event, in order to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association and the Marine Sea Coast Mission. We also conduct an annual “Week of Giving” during which we hold small events to raise money for all of our philanthropies. To further aid the Alzheimer’s Association, we participate in the Pittsburgh Walk to End Alzheimer's 5K event. During our spring semester, we fundraise for Inherit the Earth around the time of Earth Day, and hold multiple smaller events. We love pairing up with other chapters in the Greek Community to raise money for both philanthropies. We look forward to becoming even more active in service during the upcoming school year.
